Entry Level Staff Engineer – Houston, Texas

Responsibilities:
Structural analysis of concrete, steel, wood, masonry and other structural systems;
Preparation of technical reports;
Preparation of contract documents for remedial repairs, including technical specifications and drawings;
Preparation of bid documents, addenda and change orders;
Project management;
Construction field monitoring and testing.

Qualifications:
Must possess a civil, structural or architectural engineering degree, no exceptions;
EIT a plus;
Strong knowledge of building systems, design and construction;
Ability to work independently;
Detail-oriented and self-directed;
Strong computer skills.

 


 

Senior Project Engineer – Houston, Texas

Responsibilities:
Structural analysis of concrete, steel, wood, masonry and other structural systems;
Preparation of technical reports;
Preparation of contract documents for remedial repairs, including technical specifications and drawings;
Preparation of bid documents, addenda and change orders;
Project management;
Perform construction field monitoring and testing;
Assist with business development;
Train and mentor junior staff.

Qualifications:
Possess a degree in civil, structural or architectural engineering, no exceptions;
Minimum of 5 years of previous building envelope-related work experience as an EIT or PE;
Thorough knowledge of roofing, waterproofing, and building envelope systems;
Strong knowledge of building systems, design and construction;
Strong technical, written and verbal skills;
Ability to work independently;
Experience with Building Commissioning projects desirable;
RCI RRC/RRO and LEED registration a plus;
Strong computer skills.

 


 

Project Engineer – Houston, Texas

Status: Exempt | Reports to: Director of Operations | Department: Structural
Job number: 22-09.12

Position summary:
This project level position is responsible for performing structural and civil engineering work associated with complex construction and renovation projects in a variety of industry sectors including commercial, civil, municipal, industrial, education and government. Projects will vary in locality from local and regional work to interstate opportunities.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Prepare technical reports, drawings, specifications and other project related documents
  • Perform technical analysis and design
  • Provide quality construction monitoring service and customer support for all project aspects including, but not limited to scheduling, quality control, budget management, forecasting and estimation, risk analysis and mitigation, identifying and managing resource requirements, reporting, commissioning, turnover and closeout
  • Perform condition surveys, forensic investigations and other relevant technical assessments
  • Ensure adherence to safety practices, corporate policies and procedures
  • Produce timely, accurate, detailed field service reports
  • Document contractors’ processes in the execution of specific work
  • Share information across the organization to ensure Principals and project managers are aware of the project status
  • Build positive relationships with customers
  • Generate proposals for business development
  • Participate in professional organizations and share insights gained from participation with team and Principals
  • Perform relevant administrative project requirements including client communications

Project types

  • Exterior Walls and Windows: study aesthetic, structural, and weatherproofing issues of the building envelope.
  • Roofing: perform evaluations of existing roof system performance, and identify construction deficiencies or defects that might affect future roof system performance.
  • Parking Garages: evaluate structural and weatherproofing issues of parking garages and surface parking lots.
  • Water Infiltration Studies: perform studies and diagnosis of water infiltration through the exterior building envelope, including below-grading waterproofing, exterior walls and windows, and roof systems
  • Structures: evaluate and design structural repairs, evaluate code compliance, strength, and stability issues of the primary building frame
  • Suspended Scaffolding: evaluate the structural condition and federal OSHA regulation compliance of permanent building components used by contractors for exterior building maintenance and window washing

Experience and education requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil or structural engineering
  • Proficient user of common business technologies such as Microsoft Office, Word® and Excel®
  • Proficient user of AutoCAD®

Licensing or Certifications required:

  • EIT certification

Relevant workplace considerations:

  • Must have reliable personal transportation and maintain a current state driver’s license
  • Must have the physical ability to lift or move items weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Must have the physical ability to climb ladders, inspect roofs and maneuver in and around buildings in confined spaces
  • Must be capable of working at high elevations
  • Work hours: Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 5:00pm or as designated by client and business needs
  • Travel: Travel dependent on project requirements
